Merino regulates temperature in both directions rather than only trapping heat, so a thermal set men can wear on a cold morning is still comfortable in a heated office. It moves moisture as vapour before it becomes sweat, insulates even when damp, and traps odor-causing bacteria inside the fibre — which is why a merino wool base layer set stays wearable for several days of a trip while a synthetic one does not.
